Santa Brings Nash Central a Late Christmas Present

STANHOPE - Nash Central came to the Southern Nash and swept both titles at the Nash County Christmas Tournament.

Both of its varsity basketball squads left Thursday with a championship trophy.

Nash Central's boys held off Rocky Mount 63-62 to claim the boys championship.
 
The Bulldogs' Trey Sumler (MVP) paced Nash Central (10-2) with 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Sumler also tallied five assists. Michael Speight had 11 points, grabbed eight rebounds and doled out six assists to make the All-Tournament squad.

In the girls' title contest, tournament MVP Janna Oxendine scored 18 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 60-55 championship win over Northern Nash.
